Re: Data East

I just noticed something recently related to PlayStation Minis that I haven't seen mentioned elsewhere. G1M2, known for releasing Data East Arcade Classics for the Wii, has quietly lost its Data East license in the meantime. Its own Ancient Game Treasures: Mill is still available on PSN but its 3 DE...

What's up with those views? Huashan in the Netherlands? Is there something I'm not getting?

Re: Supergun monitor display help

I encountered the same S-Video B&W problem with Dooyong shooters. When I got my RGB cable, that issue went away. The strangest issue I've experienced is in my 2 Bee Storm PGM carts. One appeared to have major graphical glitches on-screen through XRGB2 (think the original Soukyugurentai on a US c...

Re: Complete list of all PC Engine games

The PCEngine Catalog Project at pcecp.com has everything I've ever searched for—including unofficial games, demos and fan discs—but the results are sorted alphabetically and not in a way that could be easily outputted. It hasn't been updated in years now so some of the latest unofficial releases, su...

Re: Belt scroll fans unite, please give me some advice

Macaw will have a field day with this topic. :) First, I'll copy over the description from the Frozen Utopia website: A side-scrolling beat-em-up in the vein of Final Fight. Choose from several different characters, each with their own unique skills and special talents. First, is the setting in the ...

Interesting that the hidden characters in Sonic the Fighters are playable. That's definitely worth $5. Now to decide whether to start amassing these games on PSN or XBL... any word?

Re: Sites that help you keep track of your collection/backlo

Note that Backloggery, true to its name, is a backlogging site. It also records collections, but its main goal is to help you complete them. There's a lot of extraneous features that are unnecessary if all you're looking to do is list games. Anyway, I'm not a fan of online sites that could go down a...

Re: I've had enough and am selling most of my stuff

I haven't encountered one that didn't use endless grinding instead of a rewarding gameplay experience via a balanced difficulty or a narrative structure giving some urgency to move along instead of grinding and resulting in a gameplay that consists entirely of pressing the OK button. I'm not sure h...

Great stuff. I don't mind the artificial PC covering of social behavior but it's refreshing to be kept real sometimes of the dirt underneath.

Re: I've had enough and am selling most of my stuff

Some advice for everyone that amasses huge collections then realizes they never actually play anything or care about half the stuff - just use emulators and only physically buy games you really want! hehhehe :P After reading byuu's comments on emulator inaccuracies years back (that he later combine...

Re: I've had enough and am selling most of my stuff

Nice PCB collection. And very reasonable prices too. Is the focus on 80s games based on personal interest (as opposed to selling off more recent games earlier/later)? I recall buying some X68 games from you awhile back and then having an X68 deal not come to fruition. If this were 5 years back, I'd ...

Re: Japan-ing it...

I don't know enough about bullying in Japan so I won't comment there, but I do have a strong stance on bullying in the US. And for the near future, I have no faith in bullying improving here (and probably Canada too). One of the policies I'm most disgusted about is that bullied kids rarely have the ...

Oh, and in case it wasn't clear, the LOL part is her adopted Japanese name for us English speakers. If she hadn't made a serious 6-minute makeup video, I would think this whole thing was a joke.

Re: SMS Zillion Games

I have a weakness for game discussion that references anything from the late 80s to the late 90s, but yeah, I've been occupied lately and haven't even played my beloved ST in a month. I don't currently have the energy to come up with interesting topics but I'll post here when I have a chance.

Re: SMS Zillion Games

I agree that the original Zillion is one of the SMS's high points. I don't know anyone who prefers ZIllion II. If anybody actually likes those autoscrolling bike stages, he could have a lot of fun with today's endless running mobile games (which I'm honestly sick of, along with tower defense games).

Re: [AC] Mortal Kombat

Releasing this title is a pretty groundbreaking decision. IINM, the last Mortal Kombat game to arrive on eastern shores was MK Trilogy for PS around 15 years ago. It's an interesting move to apparently not include any of the console version's secret characters but still leave in Kratos. Given the al...

Re: [AC/NG] The Warlocks of the Fates

NCI mentioned before that the NGCD release was granted by contract. You can contact Visco yourself (in Japanese) for confirmation. Folks who've done that in the past have confirmed that NCI received authorization. Unfortunately, Treasure of the Caribbean had no such support. It's basically a hacked ...

Re: [AC/NG] The Warlocks of the Fates

At least Bang Bang Busters received Visco's approval. I'll wait to see if NCI gets permission from Astec21 before passing judgment. It may be hard to pass up an MVS or NGCD version of this game were such versions ever to be released.

Re: Huge ass fancy thread on Famicom action games

I got my copy of Moon Crystal for $30 some years back on eBay BIN, before it was in everyone's spotlight. These days, it seems demand has pushed things up. A shame, because I'm not sure the game is really polished or different enough to be worth its current going rate. I'd rather play 2010 Street Fi...
