Re: Import stores list

It was high drama back then, for sure. Wish i had the English threads where they defended their actions. Last "debate" I recall was on Assembler, was one here I advocated a well-picked collection is far more impressive, and one of them argued (ad naseum) that a complete collection (IE, th...

Re: Import stores list

drive to Kuroneko I used to walk about 50 meters to the conbini to do domestic shipping. I have to walk 50 metres just to get to the road... such is the rural life. Actually the nearest conbini is right beside Kuroneko, it's about 3 or 4 km away. Anyway, I got a letter today to tell me that everyth...

Re: On studying Japanese

As for the JLPT, I really struggle with the reading of passages. I can understand what it says, but figuring out the answer is another matter entirely. The vocab you either know of don't know, listening is extremely easy if you've lived here for a long time. パターンで学ぶ This is for L1, but I think it s...

Re: Import stores list

Yamatoku was (is?) one of the few accounts back in the day that actually had the same name, or similar enough, on both YJ and Ebay. I'm not totally sure, but they may have even said in their YJ Profile that they were resellers. Obviously the collectors (especially the Japanese ones) aren't huge on ...

Re: On studying Japanese

I went for an interview in a top Japanese organisation in January. I have all the necessary experience so they hammered me on how well I could read Japanese - I don't have any actual qualifications, so I was convinced I didn't get the job. Well the next morning an email arrived and amazingly, I got ...

Re: Are we old yet? Or: Do you still collect?

The fact that an article in Sports Illustrated refered to me as a "scholar of Japanese soccer"and not as a "scholar of Japanese videogames" probably says everything about what I've been doing since I started selling everything I had left four years ago. I also spend a lot of time...

Re: Arcade controllers, flyers, manuals etc

I brought my Chase HQ and Super Hang On control panels to be dumped yesterday, and also threw away some other junk. I added a Sigma 9000TB controller, I don't know how much they go for used, so make an offer. I'll probably put the remaining parts as junk lots on Yahoo Auctions, so if any of these JA...

Yes, still here.
The only thing on that page that might be sold soon is the Famicom Disk System RAM cartridge.

Re: Arcade controllers, flyers, manuals etc

I remembered something else about this board, this version isn't in MAME, so I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to burn the ROMs necessary to get it working. It may well be that I'd have to change quite a few. In any case I'm not likely to get it back for a while, but I'll let you know if it do...

Re: Arcade controllers, flyers, manuals etc

That's a real pity, as I had the ABII listed here for quite a while for 1,000 yen. A few months ago I took it down to MAK to give it to them for nothing, but they said they could have a go at fixing it. The two other PCBs they have in for repair for the last two years are two GP Rider boards, so I t...

Arcade controllers, flyers, manuals etc

Hey guys, after over three years of selling almost everything, I have a few pieces I found which may be of interest, useful arcade parts and so on. I have one console game and seventeen PCBs left. I want to get rid of almost everything, but what's holding me up is that MAK in Akihabara have had two ...

Re: New items and significant reductions

New exciting items now for sale as I start to sell games I never thought I would.

Some of those control panels are huge though, finding a suitable box may be an issue.

Re: I've had enough and am selling most of my stuff

Oh, definitely. Although, I did get rid of most of my console games in one go and even a big batch of X68000 games for 80,000 yen. The guy probably wanted to resell them, whatever, I got rid of them in one go so I was happy. What you say about people not wanting to buy in bulk is so true. Right now ...

Re: I've had enough and am selling most of my stuff

Right now I'm mostly down to difficult-to-get-rid-of PCBs. Some are broken, so either I'll keep them for parts or sell as junk. Some have control panels, like Road Blasters... so I'm thinking of selling that with Marble Madess, motherboard and trackballs, but working out how to write it for Yahoo is...

Re: I've had enough and am selling most of my stuff

Two years since I started, still going... I've sold 166 PCBs, and have 64 left, and also managed to get rid of 152 console and computer games, very few of those left. Just have a few for testing purposes really. And also masses of books and other junk. Instead I've focussed entirely on women's footb...

Windows 7 & Office software etc. in Japan

Here's a fairly straightforward (maybe) query I have. I will probably need to build a new computer, since this one is eight years old and starting to fail now and then. So I could buy Windows 7 Ultimate and switch to English, not sure about Office 2013. I haven't got the patience to read error messa...

Re: New sales of PCBs, console games and books etc.

I think I'll only be able to sell the Gamest magazines on Yahoo Auctions, nobody overseas wants them at any rate. I'm down to 69 PCBs now, takes a long, long time to get rid of them. Had some clown register two YAJ accounts and then bid against himself to win my Dreamcast R7, so naturally that all h...

Re: New sales of PCBs, console games and books etc.

Down to exactly 100 PCBs at the moment, though I am continuing with sales on Yahoo...

Took some console stuff down to Book Market this morning, so with the rest I might as well sell them as bundles on Yahoo, especially the Gamest magazines which will end up being recycled otherwise.

Re: game mags and books

I think you'll be doing well to find any cheaply in Tokyo itself. I have bought Arcadia issues relatively cheaply in the likes of Book Off and Book Market in rural areas. You could start in places like Kumagaya, Saitama City, Shirakawa and so on. I am selling my magazines by the way, let me know if ...

One year: no customers. Only in Japan. Wow! Best of luck in your new endeavors. It's always liberating leaving a shit job. Did you do anything to destroy the bridge? We all assumed the company was closing, but in the end it was only half the company. I was due to stay on but I had enough a long tim...

Re: GP's music picks

Had a look to see the differences here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Beatles_%28album%29#Mono_version So the mono version wasn't released in the US, that's one big reason it would be sought after I guess. It cost me £67 for the record, the photos were £23, I think I got them from Canada. I liste...

Re: GP's music picks

I'm not really a Beatles fan, but I've heard the mono vs. stereo thing is a pretty contentious debate among the faithful, and if I remember right there was massive celebration a few years back when it was announced that some big box set of the band's albums would be getting both a mono and a stereo...

Re: Selling PCBs again

Unfortunately I sold my Strider last year.

Although the exchange rates have improved, shipping to Europe is still expensive... I may end up selling everything in Japan as it happens.

I will make up a list once I've checked it all. I keep remembering slight issues some boards have.
