It's a more obscure term, but I've several times seen non-linear adventure/RPG games referred to as containing "free scenario" elements - stuff like the Romancing SaGa series, Metal Max/Saga, Oriental Blue, Zill O'll, etc. SaGa Frontier is where the term "Free Scenario System" se...

Metal Gear Arcade is just the next implementation of Metal Gear Online - the acclaimed and abused multiplayer adaptation of the formula which first appeared in MGS3 Subsistence and then later alongside Metal Gear Solid 4. I imagine that comparing this to Half-life 2: Survivor wouldn't be entirely of...

hmm. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ultimate_Hits#PlayStation_Portable http://www.square-enix.co.jp/uh/ That indicates it's part of Square-Enix's budget line. Unfortunately, i can't think of any promotional items associated with those games that come in a neat set of three. Can you post the picture of...

oh man, 16ton. I love this game so much. It seems really dumb at first, but then you start to run into real challenges with trying to properly throw the weights so they won't come back to haunt you later. Also the final stage is pretty crazy. Playing this was like a time warp back the days when stra...

Re: [PSP] Metal Slug XX

One might as well just stick to the DS version of MS7 if they own that handheld. I dunno, two player and the extra stage routes are pretty compelling. I also have the weird suspicion it will look better (at least in motion) than most of us suspect. Then again, I played the original DS version over ...

Re: [PSP] Darius Burst

I'm kind of bewildered by people being excited while talking about ZUNTATA being involved with this game. Unless I'm missing some details, it's not so much a band as a sound unit that's been comprised of like a dozen and a half people over the years, quite a few of whom are still working mainly with...

Who knows, it's possibly that it was rumored to be or even briefly announced as being developed for System 16 before they decided not to do so. It's pretty amazing that they then developed a System 16 version just for the collection. (shame they didn't stick in Space Fantasy Zone, though, at least f...

okay, yeah, I can see that. Freedom has kind of taken on a different meaning in recent years, compared to some early CRPGS (or even some of the SaGa games). And yeah, when I first heard how combat worked in Morrowwind, it made my head hurt - with Daggerfall and Battlespire (and to a certain extent R...

and to my knowledge the 360 is plagued by the same problems as its predecessor vis-a-vis the only 'RPGs' being horrible Western "total freedom only not really" garbage like Fable 2 and Oblivion. I'm not going to argue the quality of those games (I haven't played them and don't agree with ...

A similar experience modifier is found in the relatively obscure Konami GBA game Sengoku Kakumei Gaiden, which is actually pretty close in nature to the Ys games (especially VI/Felghana/Origin). I think you get other bonuses besides EXP - the counter goes all the way to 999, although I don't think y...

This site and Insomnia are two of the only places I know where people still treat the DS with derision.

It's like having time capsules that somehow update themselves.

There's actually some interesting information about exactly that (nothing concrete, of course).

As IGN speculates (and other people have echoed), about half the work would already be done on such a title if they made a version of TvC with Tatsunoko cut out.

The 2d Metroid games for GBA were all incredibly mediocre compared to Super Metroid. Similarly, the GBA and now DS Castlevanias have been mediocre compared to Nocturne in the Moonlight. Wouldnt have high hopes for a 2d Metroid game on DS. And yeah, Hunters is crappy. When you copy something exactly...

Re: [DS] Dramatic Dungeon: Sakura Taisen Kimi Arugatame

Neverland Company is developing. What? Geez, that kind of sucks...I mean, Neverland knows dungeon crawling, but not the Chunsoft-kind (which is what this game seems to be based on). I feel sorry for these guys....Rune Factory has been about their only hit since Chaos Seed or whatever, and they've g...
