Now dated for November 26. Famitsu has some screens of the mode with high-res sprites.

Plus, they announced Espgaluda II for 360 (spring 2010). I'll need to get a J360 soon.

Yukinko Daisenpuu ‾Sayuki to Koyuki no Hiehie Daisoudou‾

Wii Star Soldier R and Oneechanbara R can also be seen there, for the curious.

Started up Zelda: Twilight Princess (GC, thank you). I can tell I'm still in the intro zone, as it's still shockingly linear, but it plays nicely and it's got that polish that I love to see - and don't see enough of anymore. The sound and visual design in the twilight world is really cool. Midna is ...

Video. http://www.jeuxvideo.tv/video-exclu-1-gameplay-au-tgs-07-video-44182.html Looks like the entire game screen is being scaled down to fit the DS resolution (or perhaps the sprites and backgrounds are being scaled independently). Most of the animation seems intact (reused as it is). Blood is whi...

Trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hDbdllvdvfw

Pace seems slower than the DC version (I haven't played the N64 game) but the trademark missile spam is completely intact. I love the set-piece levels they show there. They look like they had fun putting those together.

Here we go. http://namakoteam.com/images/scans/ms7.jpg ...wow, the pixelation. Wow, the sprite reuse. No big surprises there, though. Anybody recognize the backgrounds? Given Doki Doki Majo Shinpan's huge success on the platform, I'm not too surprised SNKP is putting MS7 there to begin with. (Though it's entirely possible that this project got moving before SNKP took notice of Doki Doki's preorder numbers.) Anyway, perhaps we can look on the bright side while simul...

...Strider -> Cannon Dancer Cannon Dancer actually involved original Strider staff that Strider 2 didn't, so I wouldn't consider it a ripoff. But yeah, point well taken. And you're not a fan of 3? It was the last one by the original staff, as far as I know, and is pretty well-respected in most parts.

http://watch.impress.co.jp/game/docs/20070914/gccx.htm http://watch.impress.co.jp/game/docs/20070817/gcx.htm This looks pretty amusing. I guess it's based on a show where people play bad-to-mediocre - or just old - Famicom games and have their funny reactions filmed. I haven't seen the show but mayb...

Lots and lots of Etrian Odyssey on the bus/train rides into work, and not much else. I've made it down to B10F, and I'm about ready to tackle the boss on that floor. First CD-ROMROM titles: Ys Book I and II and Choaniki. http://watch.impress.co.jp/game/docs/20070914/vcpce.htm That first Choaniki is the only one in the series I've really been interested in, but I haven't got around to picking it up. That artist who worked on Gynoug and this did some amazing stuff.

Handheld gaming is "ridicule and belittled" by itself because it's a poor attempt to replicate the _true_ gaming experience. That's a fact, I'm afraid. You either, are missing that (= "are clueless") or still prefer portability over substance (= "don't like video-games too ...

[Wii] Fuurai no Shiren 3

I haven't been too interested in Wii thanks to the relative lack of interesting games, but here's a sign that things are changing (and probably a sign of the direction in which the wind is blowing). Shiren is the best in the biz when it comes to Japanese roguelikes, so this a huge "real gamepla...

[Wii] PCE Super CD-ROM2 games coming to Virtual Console

Long rumored, and finally a reality: http://release.nikkei.co.jp/detail.cfm?relID=170238&lindID=1 I'm not sure if Hudson have cleaned up their act with regard to having their VC releases run at a proper native resolution. It'd be nice if they did so in time for this, but I'm not holding my breath.
