Re: Are we old yet? Or: Do you still collect?

When titles such as Elevator Action Returns on Saturn can cost upwards of $400; I'm too old for that shit. I didn't get them all when I had the chance but then unless you're a full set collector I don't think anyone really does. Despite that I got most if not 99% of the games I sought about 10 years...

Re: Japanese Film (Live Action)

I've seen very few Japanese live action films and the to-be-watched list is non-existant. However, I'm open to suggestions no matter the movie is from so long as its interesting (ie, not Boyhood). Okuribito (2008) was decent although I don't remember much. Equally less can be said about Akai Megane ...

Re: Happiness in Honolulu

Oh, man. Condolences. The extent of my gaming there was done in the form of a couple of guys meeting up and playing PCBs and whatnot. Not sure if EOJ is back there (he pops in from time to time). I know at least one other guy is likely still there, but perhaps not gaming so much. That was a while b...

News: R-Gear , the 2D sequel to RayForce....has been unearthed. It runs on F3 and is the last code base before being canned for RayStorm. The proto is in the hands of an ex-Taito programmer. Working with him to get the data dumped. Interesting news. Best of success getting it dumped, it should be a...

Yep -- the long version.

Yeah, I missed the fact the long version isn't on the website... oh well.

Apparently this is will be playing in San Francisco the same opening weekend as Japan. So I'll be sure to check it out. I also noticed a lot of similarities to Great Mahou art designs, including the voice at the end of the trailer being the same one used in the game! I think you're onto something a...

what about killer instinct? KI1 and MK2 are proboably two of my alltime fighter faves.. great games and well balanced for VS play in my very amateuristic opinion.. Taito had an early deal with Midway and they released NBA Jam and MK1, neither did well. MK2 didn't make it past location test. The con...

Isn't Tatsujin-Ou somewhere to the tune of 10 minutes a stage, or am I hallucinating again? Some are yeah, from what I remember. They all get up there in length but again everytime I fire it up I get a little further than I did the previous time however it usually takes about 30 minutes to get ther...

How many can we name w/ 7-8 though? Touche, although long is still long. With Toaplan it seems the individual stages are extremely long while there aren't too many, Capcom tended to make games with many stages overall making it less of a stage by stage endurance fest and more encompassing of the wh...

1942 = 32
1943 = 15
1943 Kai = 10
Varth = 30
1941 = 6 (last stage is pretty long so it could be a 7)

Also, Varth rocks.

3 is longer so proboably concidered harder overall, tho personally i always found 4 more of a challenge (not that i sat down and completed either one tho :roll: ). 3 seems to go crazy on the player right away, 4 gets hard in a more balanced fashion. 4 might be hard simply thanks to the type selecti...

Too bad it still doesn't work properly. Did they ever say why they never did console ports of Vimana, Outzone, or Dogyuun? I've always wondered why those awesome games never saw a console port. Blame Gazelle I guess. Good article GP, thanks. For people who say Hishouzame as an easy Toaplan game... ...

And yeah, early Capcom sounds awesome. Make whatever you want? Wow. It's been stated time and time again that Sega was the exact same way. Not any more. Yeah, read quite a few articles about all the development houses at Sega in the mid-80s to mid-90s. Pretty much the same vibe as what is described...

Are you sure the Akihabara (or various Osaka) location(s) don't have it? Good point, but I have obviously no way of checking. I'm just aware the Sendai Super Potato had a copy and for around a price I'd want to pay. That is assuming in large part they still had it and with spine. No matter, I'm wil...
