Re: Nintendo Switch

I own a lot of gamecube games, I own some Wii games, and I own just a "few" Wii U games... 8 to be exact. The same downward slope exists for me with the Nintendo handhelds. I do like me some Mario, and I am a huge Metroid fan, but enough is enough. People call Nintendo creative, but they a...

Re: I've had enough and am selling most of my stuff

Selling stuff is so much harder than acquiring it. To get your money back you have to basically sell items 1 at a time, or in small bulk orders. This is why those huge game collections priced at mega bucks sit there on ebay forever. Some of those collections are actually a steal, but people would ra...

Re: Neo-Geo Thread

So I went a strange route with the NeoGeo. AES is really pricey, and I didn't want to own stacks of MVS carts. Emulation is pretty good, and some of the PS2 compilations that run in 240p are superb so what I did with the Neo was a bit of a compromise. I wanted real Neo hardware, just not a lot, and ...

Hi all, Since 2004 I have been involved in digital media preservation and archiving. I am an Archivist. To make a long story short, it has been my life's work for the past 10 years. Some of my accomplishments include archiving all of the faq's at GFAQS(this deserves to be in the hands of the people!...

Re: [Gamengai] GP's real life curve ball.

It has been a pleasure using the service over the years. I remember when Gaijin Punch first reached out to me after I bought a few items off him on Digital Press forums with an offer to use his service. Funny thing is, it took me about a year to circle back and start using the service properly due t...

Re: [PS4] ASSAULT SUIT LEYNOS

Interesting to see this being developed, but MAN... that initial trailer for it is super rough. Some megadrive screenshot montages, a bit of music and a barely interesting action sequence from the game. Did you guys catch the red lens flash on the mech at the very end? lol

Taito Memories... the collector dilema

Taito released original retail versions of 4 Taito Memories packages. They also released 4 Taito best releases... and then 4 Ultimate Hits releases. The originals were quite pricey, and the budget versions were so cheap. Especially when I was getting them off YesAsia with free shipping and discount ...

Re: Today's marketplace for yesterday's games

I can say with certainty that eBay has been complete garbage for buying games. I buy a lot of imports on YJ. If I could get it on eBay from a domestic seller in the US I would. However everyone is selling any import shooter or fighting game at ludicrious prices. $45 for Pocket Fighter? $100 for a se...

NES Classics - Metroid on GBA That would be my recommendation. Large game, tons of exploration, is condusive to "okay time to save I need a break, but then compelled to pick up and continue playing 5 minutes later", has no plot or NPC's to interact with, and its all action. If you have an ...

Right now I don't know who to believe. I have been periodically watching CNN's coverage in conjunction with Aljazeera. It seems to me that 1) American News outlets are trying to blow things out of proportion, using scare tactics and sensationalism to garner viewers, and 2) Japanese officials seem to...

There is a big difference between digital music now (which is only available digitally in most cases) compared to digital music from 20 up to about 6-7 years ago (being available mainly on vinyl). The production quality of the music now is far better on average, and it's a hobby where technology ha...

Agreed. "Sit back" is a good way to describe it, but I think it's finally my last dance for the hobby. I'll still pop in a game here and there, and I won't go selling stuff I'll play, but I don't see collecting (or seriously following) much more of a viable option. The good games will eve...

Nintendo execs are saying, "selling wares cheaply in a crowded online bazaar is a long-term recipe for failure." They have no fricken idea that their Wii console is basically just that, with all the motion control skiiball clones and minigame comps. The games industry hit the reset button....

I disagree with their inclusion of Time Crisis. This throws off the entire list. For starters, to choose a game from 1995, they are saying that Time Crisis is more classic than any other game from that time period? Also, they call it "Genre Defining". Virtua Cop was more genre defining for...

Things aren't nearly as peachy in the audio world I've found though. Most professional loooking thing is Audacity which is good for some stuff (although I have codec issues on my box sometimes). Music production like Reason, Live, Cubase... I don't think we're going to see a Linux solution for such...

For a Linux distro, I prefer Slackware. ;) It gives you a ton of control, and doesn't hold your hand. It provides plenty of documentation to read, but it expects that you actually read it.
