Re: In Japan, what/where/how do I...?

Thanks for the recommendations, guys. I'm still not real into the eReader's because I need the feel of a book in my hand, but space is a bit of a problem here so I'm sure I'll get one some day. Amazon US looks reasonable but I don't know how I'd pay for it with no credit card and paypal not being av...

Re: In Japan, what/where/how do I...?

Where do you guys go for English-language books? Kinokuniya seems to have the best prices and the best selection, but is there a better option? I stocked up on stuff the last time I went to the States, but I only make that trip once a year. I also don't have a credit card, so I don't think I can ord...

Let me know. I'd like to make it out there Sunday since the following weekend will probably be more packed as the show closes.

Re: A New Look at Akira

Otomo's English Wikipedia entry mentions a 2012 work entitled "DJ Teck's Morning Attack," which I couldn't find mention of in the JP version of the page. I wonder if that's the new work? That's a short 8-page, full-color comic he did for this month's Gekijutsu Shinchou, which has a ton of...

Re: A New Look at Akira

Actually, according to that issue of Brutus, Otomo is going to have a new manga serialized in Shounen Sunday. Not sure if it's a reprint of something old or not, but if it's new that would be pretty badass.

Re: A New Look at Akira

Yea I dunno what Brutus covers normally or what section to find it in, but I was just walking through the magazine aisle and my nerd radar is always up so the Akira manga cover immediately jumped out. I didn't buy it since my backlog of unread materials is pretty monstrous, but today I decided to ge...

Re: A New Look at Akira

For Otomo buffs, the latest issue of Brutus has a big feature on Otomo (and Akira the manga in particular). It even comes with a little booklet and stickers to put on your Trapper Keeper. Mangaka are usually pretty camera shy, and Otomo is no exception, but there's lots of shots of him, his office, ...

Re: Dork out: Game Goals...

You playing the X68000 version in emulation or on the Playstation? I'm playing the Playstation version on an emulator. I have the PS1 game back home in the states, but I'm not about to make the commute just for that. Never thought about looking into X68000 emulators but that's an idea. You getting ...

Re: Dork out: Game Goals...

I'm going in the order they were released so after X68000 its Rondo, Bloodlines, then XX. I've only ever played the first stage of XX and thought it was good, but everyone seems to hate the game so I'm curious to see what I'll think after extended play time. CV4 was better than I used to think, alth...

Re: Dork out: Game Goals...

I've been pretty busy the past couple weeks with my Castlevania marathon, 1CC'ing the following: Kid Dracula (Famicom) Castlevania II Belmont's Revenge (Gameboy) Super Castlevania IV (SFC) Kid Dracula (Gameboy) And I just started working on Akumajou Dracula X68000 which will probably take a lot long...

Re: Dork out: Game Goals...

Finally, fucking finally, I beat Castlevania III on a credit. For some reason I was playing the US version and it was pounding my balls so I gave up on it a couple of times only to keep returning. But this time...I was the winner. It's certainly better than the previous few installments but I think ...

Re: Shit that makes me LOL

I think shmups.com is a little too uptight to appreciate this. A lot of those guys's glasses would probably fog up and crack looking through this forum, although it wouldn't surprise me if a few of them were regulars. My favorite quote so far: Realdolls give great head, they don't breathe and that's...

Re: Shit that makes me LOL

This guy is pretty cool. After a brief browse through those forums I noticed there's really no trolling or negativity whatsoever (outside of a complaint about a torn anus, but this is to be expected) and it seems like a really supportive and welcoming place. We could learn a lot from these deviant ...

かまいたちの夜 (multiple games and consoles, original on SFC, newest on PS3) by Chunsoft. Since this game has many releases, I figure there's something good about it. Like many of the SFC games, the backgrounds are static images, the characters are like opaque wire-framey models (think Dural or whoever is...

Re: The emulation thread...

Yea, pretty major stuff. At least for me and the types of games I play. Can anyone get them to run at 100%? I've used a half dozen versions of mame the past couple days and haven't noticed much of a difference. Futari and its various revisions run at about 85%, as does Galuda II, but others, like MM...

I've been checking this site daily since you posted it in the other thread, great find.

Amazing how many people bought into the "Justin Bieber Actually a 51-Year-Old Pedophile" story.

I actually have a copy of the CV one in my office at Roppongi. It was my 2nd copy (but I've sold my lot of them as I'd read them all). Give me notice and I can pass it off to you as your reward for being the first white person to 2-loop Gbird2. That would be killer. I know you're a busy man so howe...

I don't suppose anyone has read either of the Castlevania or Biohazard Gamesides? There's two CV ones, one with the PSP Dracula X on the cover and the other with that dumb fighting game but there's apparently a history of the series in that one. Super Potato of course charges out the ass for copies ...
