Re: On gamengai, Gaijin Punch and videogame theory

Arcana Heart? What the fuck. Like for example a 36-page essay that explains that scoring is anti-immersive, and therefore anti-artistic, among a shitload of other things Scoring isn't anti-immersive. Quite the opposite, it's a tool used since the earliest video games to create additional depth throu...

I am even putting it in the short, journalistic-like paragraphs that Skyretard prefers to read. For the benefit of your asinine readership, one would hope you would continue to do so. Everything I have ever seen you post is stupid. And I mean everything. Shucks, I bet you say that to all the girls. A review is a type of essay, imbecile. Re: On gamengai, Gaijin Punch and videogame theory

Is it a review or an essay? If it's an 'excerpt' of 2000 words, you've well-breached the acceptable limits for a critical review in video games. Gross verbosity is the enemy of any essay, and your points - some of which are worthwhile - would be cleaner and have more resonance if you learned to edit...

Re: [DS/3DS] Monitor Output

It's obvious that your opinion of the game has been unfairly swayed by it pandering to your nostalgia. I guess this is how people get suckered into buying crap like Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing. Trash. You don't know what you're talking about. I 1cc'd the game because it was a fine game. I don...

It's beyond belief that Icycalm, one who so aggressively preaches the value of good criticism and literature, is unable to produce either. I've never seen an individual trip over their own balls on so many occasions, and in public no-less, yet still attempt to maintain the profile of an ordained bei...

Re: [PS3/PSV] Dragon's Crown

But the score counter means it shouldn't be possible to grind parts of an 'open world' forever. If backtracking is involved, it will probably be due to the score being independent to each 'quest' your on, and some quests may lead you to previous areas. If each quest is still its own thing like that...

Re: [PS3/PSV] Dragon's Crown

I'm going to stick my neck out and say, sadly, I'm confident the game will have a backtracking nature. All of VW's stuff relies heavily on game structures that recycle backgrounds because they're just so laboured over in terms of beauty and detail that there are limits on how much they can create gr...

Re: Beatdowns in Techno City: The Denjin Makai Series Thread

Just to say, I know there are two legit revisions of Denjin Makai II/Guardians PCB's floating about (and I've had both at once), but this game must be bootlegged out the ass because I discovered three local arcades that have it here in the South of China. How would you identify these boards, if you...

Re: [Wii] Zelda: Skyward Sword

Almost every game is. And there were those cyclones which let you warp. It's not w/o it's flaws, but the game was fun... something heaps of games unfortunately fail to do. I do agree that MM is a better game though. I hate the N64 but do miss the two Zeldas, Mario64, and Mario Kart. The situating o...

Re: [Wii] Zelda: Skyward Sword

It was fine as a one-off. Each to their own, I thought it was a badly implemented, highly tedious and overly important aspect to the game. Unlike other Zelda games, which open warp holes mid-way so you can jump to previously explored areas more easily, the boat never gets a proper upgrade, meaning ...

Re: Today's marketplace for yesterday's games

It's not all on the rise, if you look back over ten years. I used to work in London's biggest import game store through 99 - 2001, right in the heart of the city. We had two floors of import gaming and it was packed to the rafters with people all day long. At that point everything was relatively exp...
