Recently finished Tengai Makyou 4 for the JP PSP. That's the most entertaining RPG I've played in years. I loved every minute of it. Now I'm playing through Growlanser (also JP PSP). Not as good as Tengai Makyou 4, but those are big shoes to fill. It's pretty good though (so far). I'm about halfway ...

All the high scoring replays use it. And yeah, when the gems first spawn, for a split second, they add more to your counter than normally. So you have to nudge your character over each batch of gems instead of just being close and absorbing them automatically. For example look at this: http://www.ni...

RE: Futari BL Original mode: No one in the West has higher than my pair of 810mil scores (one w/ each character), as far as anyone knows. Original is a weird one, getting 700‾800mil doesn't take much effort, but you need to be at a whole different level to reach 1+bil, and really a good score isn't ...

This came out today. It looks pretty rad. You get to choose the original art or a newer restyling, along with 3 different BGMs (pc-88, original, arranged). Pics here:

I'll pick this up in a couple weeks.

Get a DSi. The slightly bigger (and brighter) screens make it 10x better for me, and I can actually enjoy DS games now. The DQ ports are great because there's no touch screen bullshit. DQIV is a good start, but there's a PS1 port of that as well. You could also try DQV on the PS2 (also has a DS port...

Just finished Dragon Quest IV on my DSi (sans the stuff you can do in the prologue). I loved every minute of it (took me 24 hours to clear). I can't wait for DQIX to arrive on July 11th.

Next up is Soma Bringer for the DS. I'll play that until DQIX arrives.

or new on release at least.

Ok. You added this nugget in after my post, but you don't seem to want to admit that, so whatever. :)

I was only talking about new Cave kits. And just because I didn't buy many on release doesn't mean they weren't expensive.

Sorry for the OT guys.

"New" is the issue here, as that is all that was mentioned in this thread. I've only bought one game brand new on release.

I don't go very crazy and buy new kits. I think those days are behind me. I only did it twice. Once, I was living abroad so arcade play was impossible. The other time... well, busy w/ the kid and life, so once again, arcade play was quite impossible. I bought every CAVE SH3 game released brand new ...

You gotta keep up with the cave-stg.com Futari 1.5 thread - this info was posted there over a week ago. :)

BTW Wanderer stopped by this afternoon, and I did a 301mil 1CC of Deathsmiles while chatting with him.

Fantasy Zone Complete, Monster World, Phantasy Star Collection, and Galaxy Force II are all awesome. Wish they'd keep working on more of these. The good news is the company who ported these, M2, is still active (they are doing the Mushihimesama Futari ver 1.5 port for the JP X360).

Tengai Makyou IV
Tengai Makyou Collection

Brave Story was also pretty good. That's about it.

What's the deal with the yen??

It's down to 91 yen to a dollar as of this post. WTF? This is the lowest I've seen it in my lifetime.

Somewhat off-topic - What is the url of that website that lists all the arcades in japan? (and games that they have) that would be great to have :? It's right here: http://shooter.wiki.cmssquare.com/index.php Just type in the (shooting) game's name and it'll give a list of all the arcades in Japan ...

Son of a bitch. This IS a crappy-ass DS game. Promo pic in post #13 of this thread:

It's called "7th Dragon".

I can't play anything on the DS except Kanji software and some puzzle games (like Picross DS). Crappy small screens and touch screen gimmick crap is not my cup of tea, particularly for RPGs. I don't mind RPGs on the PSP though (I actually rather like them).
