Re: Arcade controllers, flyers, manuals etc

I wish I had seen this post before I dropped a bunch of money. If you still have that busted AFII, what are you asking on it? Also, do you have any idea what is wrong with it?

Coincidentally, my Cadash PCB will be delivered tomorrow. :)

I make my way to Try's 8th floor about two or three times a month. It's a little dark, a little dirty, and there are nothing but old farts like me in there. It's perfect.

Cool, thanks for that. Do they change them out on a schedule or just when they stop pulling in coins? I will probably be there tomorrow afternoon / evening so I will look for the request forms.

Re: [ETC] Try Tower Akihabara

So, I have been hanging out on the tower's 8th floor a lot lately. After all my years living here I don't know why I never bothered going there. It's a lot less crowded and less noisy than HEY, and it has way more action games. If they sold booze and food there I probably wouldn't go home. I noticed...

Re: PC Engine system card confusion and other Qs

You got lucky on that Potato score. Their system shelves are usually picked clean by the weekend. As far as best pads well I'm not sure. I am an old school arcade man so it is joysticks only for me. When I pick up a system I grab the rattiest pad I can find, gut it, and slap it into a stick with som...

Re: PC Engine system card confusion and other Qs

A number of years ago, (I can't exactly remember how many) just about every store carried the old stuff. Yodobashi, Bic, Book Off, Tsutaya, Sofmap, Liberty, there were tons. Virtually every one of them seemed to liquidate at around the same time. I don't know why, but it happened quickly. Where did ...

Re: PC Engine system card confusion and other Qs

I am outputting 720p because 1080p scanlines still don't display properly. That picture is actually a little old and I have gone into the Mini's settings and messed with the scanlines and brightness. I will have to post an updated pic later.

Re: PC Engine system card confusion and other Qs

mack is back! — and you're sober! (I think!) Those screenshots look great! What display are you using? And what RGB mod did you decide to go with? I've read online that there are different RGB mods you can do on the PC Engine and that one of them produces the infamous jailbars that plague the RGB o...

Re: PC Engine system card confusion and other Qs

Well, looks like we are back. I said in my previous post that I was going to write some blog post about modding but I am too lazy to keep a blog. However, I did make an imgur account so I can at least upload pics from now on. This is a picture of my DuoR mod and amp. If you have any questions about ...

Re: PC Engine system card confusion and other Qs

Dang man, sorry to leave you hangin'. I am actually writing up a blog post about getting into system modding and I will have the amp pics in there. I am aiming for a write-up that will help motivate people who have always wanted to mod systems, but avoided getting into it because they think it's too...

Well, I finally got my Ten no Koe 2 and was able to do the rgb mod. I built the old transistor based amp and hot damn does it look great. I will make a photo bucket or imgur account later an upload some pics. I'm too drunk right now.

Re: The Official WTF are YOU playing right now thread

I lost interest in this when I saw footage of Hiryuu getting pelted with Nerf bullets. Looks like it turned out better than Moon Diver, if that counts for anything. I got about halfway through and quit. From the mostly useless power-ups, to the "I feel like I'm stuck in the same level for the ...

Mandarake's power grows...

What's everybody's take on this? Ever since they erected their Tower of Babel in the middle of Akiba, prices went up and stock at other stores dried up. This was already happening due to other factors, but they certainly helped it along. If they just ship comics and collectibles out of there, I am n...

Re: PC Engine system card confusion and other Qs

My route has changed a little bit. Outside of Rondo, many of the games I have wanted to play for a long time are on Hu Card. So I bought a Core Grafx and I am going to get a Ten No Koe 2 to slap an RGB mod inside. A little later, I will get a Duo R / RX and also RGB mod that so I can play the CD gam...

I didn't know anything about that guy until recently. I actually saw him in Mandarake once. He was with some other curly haired drag queen looking dude. They were both talking so loudly you could hear them from the door as soon as you walked in. Face was very punchable.

Cool. Thanks for that. Is the RX six button controller usable on the R? Also, if I ended up with a CoreGrafx /CD-Rom combo, would that mean I would need the Arcade Card Pro?

PC Engine system card confusion and other Qs

I had a TG-16 as a kid, but I bought it right around the time stores started liquidating their stock. Also, I had a Genesis and a Super NES, so my game buying money was already stretched pretty thin. As such, Keith Courage and Legendary Axe are the only games I have ever played. After spending time ...

That shop is actually an official distributor but they give no warranty if the boards are defective. It will still be some time before I can install it though. All the online guides say that the PPU is a little hard to get out with just a soldering iron and braid / sucker. Going to do some research ...

Wow, even Twitter? That explains things. About a month ago, they posted their stock list Saturday night and Mutation Nation popped up for a low ass price. I think it was like 3200. I figured since it was posted well after their phone orders closed, I could grab it in the morning. I got there a few m...

Well, after four solid months of searching, a Magician Lord finally popped up at MaK and I grabbed it this morning. I was surprised that the price was close to the home cart price. One thing that is great about Mak, if people are waiting at the door when they open, they will serve them before they s...

NES RGB Kits

Just wanted to let everyone know that you can buy these kits in Akiba here: http://www.march-rabbit.jp/ Don't go to the main store, they only have the kits at shop number 2. I picked one up today and it was a little over 13k yen after taxes. Can't install it yet since I couldn't find an AV Famicom. ...
