Re: Neo-Geo Thread

Hehe, I've been looking for an MVS Magician Lord for a while as well. Doesn't pop up too often, I'm afraid. I seriously can not understand why it is so tough to get a hold of. It isn't even a very well liked game among even the most maniacal Neo heads. Maybe no one is selling it because they think ...

any graphics experts?

Would it be possible to take something like a cover art scan and give it a translucent plastic look, to make it look like a cab marquee? I can't seem to find anything close to what I am looking for. I am not an expert, so please be gentle.

Re: Dork out: Game Goals...

Hopefully everything will work out and you can get back to some gaming soon. I have been bouncing around between my systems lately, so I haven't gotten any vids made yet. I need to make a list or something.

Re: Neo-Geo Thread

That's a nice spread you have there. $65 for Sengoku 2 on home cart is frigging loco. I am curious, is Magician Lord MVS getting hard to find out west? I have been looking here in Tokyo for months and it absolutely refuses to surface. It can't be going for very much, because the complete home cart d...

Re: Japanese Gaming Websites

This is something I stumbled upon some time ago that I thought was really cool. http://unofficial-guide.sakura.ne.jp/index.html It is complete strategy guides for the arcade version of Rygar and Sengoku Legends 2001. Not only is the information very thorough, the whole interactive book presentation ...

Thanks for the suggestion. I will be sure to check next time I am at the station. I went home to visit my folks for the 4th and completely forgot to check for any while I was there.

I play the arcade version when I go to the arcade. :D

Re: Neo-Geo Thread

Just a little update... A comment was left on one of my you tube videos, remarking that my MVS output was looking a little dim, and maybe I should swap out the 150 ohm resistors for 120 ohm resistors. I finally got around to trying it yesterday and it looks great. So, if you are thinking about makin...

Weird, I just bought this like two days ago. Still haven't got my hands on a NES RGB board so I can't play it yet though. It looks like it will be worth the wait though.

Re: Dork out: Game Goals...

I find the lack of recent game goals disturbing.... After talking about how much I liked Sengoku in my Neo-Geo thread, I finally decided to give it the 1CC treatment it deserves. I owned it on home cart a long time ago, but I never got around to putting in the time to get it on one credit. Current p...

Re: game mags and books

Well, went to Mandarake and they were clueless about the magazine bags. They just tape up everything in cellophane and tape. I checked out that comic store Blister, and they only had comic size bags. Gonna have to try Amazon or something.

Re: game mags and books

Cool. I will have a look there soon. Another question. Is there a place to buy magazine size protector bags? I am talking about ones like the kind used for comics. I looked online and found a shop called Blister that sells U.S. comics, so I am thinking they might have some. Anyone ever been there?

Re: game mags and books

A little update... I decided to venture out and pierce the veil of rain and humid train funk to see what is what. I made the rounds and managed to turn up three issues of Neo-Geo Freak. Unfortunately they all had the posters inside so I took it straight in the keester on that one. For those not in t...

game mags and books

If my fellow Tokyo folks could help me out here. Where is a good place to grab old back issues of things like Arcadia and Neo-Geo freak? I know stupid potato has some stuff but I think it is mostly strategy guides right? I'd rather not go there if at all possible due to the high prices thanks to the...

An old forum goblin...

To let you in on a little secret, I drink sometimes. When I drink at home, I usually end up looking at things like old toy commercials, fighting game tournament videos, and what not. Tonight, I decided to check into the whereabouts of some old forum personalities. Kind of like a "VH1 Where are ...

Re: Neo-Geo Thread

CMVS SUCCESS!!!!! After quite a bit of stress, I finally got my consolized MVS up and running. The only other project I have done at this point was a custom Mega Drive joystick, so remember I am not exactly an expert. Have a seat, and let me share my struggle. After giving up on trying to make an RG...

Re: Neo-Geo Thread

If you are also looking to get into PCBs, you are better off getting a supergun like the Sigma and then just plugging the MVS board into it. I decided to go the CMVS route because PCBs are a deep dark rabbit hole I don't want to go down. The multi-carts I don't really know much about. The MV1F board...

Re: Neo-Geo Thread

Excellent, excellent. Everyone gather around, there is enough Neo for everyone. Unless you are loaded and have a lot of patience, I would not recommend going the AES route. You can't even find home carts in most stores here anymore and when you do, you will be paying through the nose for even the mo...

With all the topic views but no replies, I was starting to get worried there. It is very interesting that you mentioned AOF 2. I also think it is a great game, especially when played with friends. However, I think you are the first person I have come across that also likes the single player. Most pe...

Neo-Geo Thread

Since the Neo is one of my favorite systems, I'm wondering if there are any other Neo lovers here. I have been without one for a long time, but next month I will be able to finish my MVS project and be back in. Here are some personal favorites and recommendations: Magician Lord I have probably playe...
