Re: Neo-Geo Thread

Cool, thanks for the suggestion! I'll figure out the best setup when the time comes, and I'm sure that determination will involve this wonderful forum.

[SAT] Shinrei Jusatsushi Tarōmaru

After clearing Shin Shinobi Den, I browsed around the internet for information on the game in a self-congratulatory manner and found a comment stating that Shinrei Jusatsushi Tarōmaru was what Shin should have been . There's no way I'd let someone toss some seemingly unfounded shit around like that,...

Re: Neo-Geo Thread

Wow, fuck that then. I knew the stuff would be expensive, but I didn't think there would be price-gouging and extreme rarity for the games. I just checked completed listings on American eBay and see upwards of $400+ for individual Metal Slug games. Compare that to some completed auctions that includ...

Re: Neo-Geo Thread

Don't worry my man; I would not have left you hanging for long! Unfortunately, the Neo Geo and the PC Engine are the two major "old" consoles I know almost nothing about. I would like to purchase an AES whenever I get to Japan someday (whenever that will be!), though I am concerned that mo...

Re: Shin Shinobi Den [SAT]

Yeah, that's an interesting question. I believe the hardware is what enforces the scanning frequency, so an NTSC Saturn will output 240p video at 60Hz, whereas a PAL Saturn will output 288p video at 50Hz, regardless of the region the game comes from. For whatever reason, many games localized for the...

Re: Shin Shinobi Den [SAT]

It took me a few more tries, but I did it. schadenfreude ALL 238,500 The last two levels are pretty brutal. Only once did I make it through the mountain level without dying, and interestingly it was when my brother came in to see what I was doing. I had him watch me while playing other parts of the ...

Re: Shin Shinobi Den [SAT]

I gave it a couple more tries last night and improved every time. That second-to-last level in the mountains is a killer; I've never gotten through it without losing a few lives.

I'm hoping to clear the game this weekend!

Re: Shin Shinobi Den [SAT]

Nothing wrong with not having a PAL system, but surely you have some kind of Action Replay for your system, yes? Before I purchased my Saturn, I thought people were being overwhelmingly hyperbolic about the Action Replay being a mandatory purchase, but damn were they right! I hope I haven't gotten y...

[SAT] Shin Shinobi Den

I took one look at the Mortal Kombat graphics and prepared for the worst, but I'm happy to say this one isn't too bad. It inherited the speed and pretty much all the moves from The Super Shinobi II, plus about a billion others that you'll never use. The most practical yet impractical one is a roll y...

[SAT] Panzer Dragoon Zwei

I just started getting into this last week after I moved on from the original (no 1CC, sadly!). Zwei's controls are a hell of a lot smoother — plus there's the cute dragon evolution thing and multiple routes through the episodes — but I think I prefer most of the stages and bosses from the original ...

Re: Any other solder jockeys here?

Ah, you caught me! I've actually never seen an AES in person and have only seen images of it "from a distance" online. But that's awesome that it has one.

For kicks, let's just pretend I was being sarcastic!

Re: Any other solder jockeys here?

First, most searches almost invariably return results about SCART which is useless to me because it is wired differently. Have you considered just buying the SCART cable and then buying or creating a SCART-layout-to-RGB21-layout converter? I suppose that won't solve your stereo woes. If only the AE...
