Nobody seems to have found this, but AMI has the very first flyer for Death Smiles:

Notice the "action shooting game" thing.

I maybe wrong once again, but do you really believe there's a possibility for SS Suikoenbu to have gotten a US version?

Yeah, sprite rotation is of course possible, but would it look anywhere near as smooth as in Zero Gunner 2? I don't think so. It depends on what you mean with "smooth", I guess. Framerate-wise, yeah, sprite rotation (and I mean "real-time") can be ("is") as smooth as &...

Sprite rotation is quite a elementary feature. Even the SFC could do it.

I guess Taito actually had something to do with this game's quality at the end, much like Capcom did with the first Giga Wing titles. Edit: Or maybe not; previous stuff from these people did alre...

Funny you say Psikyo games don't suck, but you comment that the genre has been stuck for 10 years. Psikyo is probably the worst offender of shoving the same stuff down peoples throats... But I also said it wasn't a bad thing "per se". and it's not even good stuff. Fast bullets, biggish hi...

Re: [AC] Raiden IV

How much of it have you seen? It is leaps and bounds above RIII. It is no Ikaruga, but it you cannot dismiss it as crap on visuals alone. Not much, to be honest (enough to me, anyway), but yep, we indeed can. C'mon. The genre is completely stuck. They have been repeating the very same formulas once...

I checked further down the page and it does say "teeburu". I was confused because it described games like Shukudai ga Tant-R and Die Hard Trilogy and TBL. I guess it also means variety-type games as well as board games. It does include "board games", but not "variety-type&q...

There's some footage at Kobayan and a video right here: http://es.youtube.com/watch?v=rxVTzPffUbA (via AM-Net). The creepy thing here is that it's already their third (fourth, if you count Chaos Field) title in this awful trend of theirs, meaning that it's succeeding somehow. Are even Japanese arcad...

Re: Ladies & Gentlemen: The 2D Fighting Thread

NBC is a not-entirely-faithful port of the arcade Can you elaborate? Immediately noticeable from videos is that the victory screen looks different and that there's no pause/silence right before a match begins in the arcade version. I understand. Thanks. Sounds like pretty minor, if you ask me. Yes,...

It's originally a SFC game. Super Lite 1500 Series games are normally original releases, anyhow, not budget re-editions (even if some of them may be ports).

Re: Ladies & Gentlemen: The 2D Fighting Thread

I recall Recap saying GG's resolution is raped. Me? The only Neo Geo game I know of that has 240p on PS2 is Samurai Spirits Zero. It really does!? NBC is a not-entirely-faithful port of the arcade Can you elaborate? I have little else to add here besides that I don't think the PS2 is the right choi...

Of course I'm not getting a Wii for now. When it's $60, I'll think about it. As for the game, I've always bought games in release dates, you know. 2nd hand markets are not my thing.

Most likely. I even play turn-based RPGs, so. It's too pretty to resist, honestly. And reminds me of classic ninja games, which I love.

Won't be playing till 2010, anyhow.

Then Famitsu would give a 4, 4, 5, 4. There you have Shin Chuuka Taisen.

Anyhow, it's Rimo-Kon shit focused. Hardly the mechanics will be even decent. Pretty much, the target platform ruins a brilliant concept once again. These days' drama, you know.

You only ever hear good things about Light Bringer, I'll really have to give it a good go one of these days. I dunno why, but for some reason I kind of suck at these types of games. Oh. The Revenge of Death Adder always deserves a mention too. I liked Arabian Fight and Spider-Man the Video-Game back in the day too, though I'm not sure how they'd do today. Warrior Blade... I'd have loved to find that on the arcades. You just can't emulate it properly. Are PGM former games perfec...

Re: Side-scrolling Beat 'Em Ups

Would you call Lightbringer a "side-scrolling beat'em up"? I cleared that. Quite an easy game, actually. Captain Commando, Tenchi wo Kurau II, Battle Circuit, Tower of Doom come to mind as games I abandoned just after reaching the final boss. Note that I used to play these games with 2 or ...

The other (hopefully not) scenario is that now that Ikeda is the head of programming he's got his hands in a little bit of everything, instead of a lot of one thing. I don't see him taking on a job that doesn't allow him to continue putting out his flavor of game though. The head programmer for Dea...

That romanization looks as the usual poor, interweb-made attempt. The kana is "kuurii", so.

I guess most haven't; it's a quite obscure game. I don't know even if I romanized the title properly. Publisher is Visit.
