Re: Replacement SFC Plastic Cartridge Holder Insert?

I know what you're talking about, but I just raid some pachinko or soccer game as well. Every once in while somebody will sell a set of cart trays on Yahoo, so you could also keep an eye out there, if you need more than one.

That's just Contra with the main character sprites changed. I don't think it's enough of a difference, tbh.

Re: Japanese developed games not physically released in Japan

Thanks again for the input! I don't think either suggestion qualifies for the list. FFXIII on 360 seems just like a name change to me, but overall it's just the same game, right? And changing teams/players in sports games doesn't constitute enough of a change, imo. Really, what the focus should be o...

Re: Japanese developed games not released in Japan

@layzee Thanks! Great additions! I've added them to the list, plus a whole bunch of other titles (lotsa Yuke's wrestling games, for example :D ). I think NES is covered now, too. @CTN It's hard to make an exact judgement, because it's quite subjective what constitutes "different". Many gam...

Japanese developed games not physically released in Japan

I'm doing some research on games developed in Japan but never released there. If you have some input, I'd love to get your help! ;) Specifically, I'm looking for NES and SNES titles, any help on this is appreciated. I have what I believe are all Master System and Mega Drive titles. Let me know, if y...

I know there are PS-memory-card-to-USB adapters out there, unfortunately I can't remember their name. I guess I'm getting old too...

Re: Akira for MegaDrive

Famicom Akira is a Visual Novel and I believe it even got an English fan translation. However, what I don't understand is, why would you play a visual novel with crappy visuals when you could just read the awesomely drawn manga? As it is, I think Akira Psycho Ball is the only good (and legit good) A...

Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap — Remake

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ibKf66tVoFw Something to look forward to, going by the graphical style at least. Apparently it also has Ryuichi Nishizawa's backing. Of course it's being done by a French, rather than a Japanese team. :D Let's see if it get's released for anything other than smartphon...

Thanks -- although I saw Tetsuo already... and barely made it through it. O.o Hahaha, it's a trip, for sure! Oh, and I forgot to mention my favorite Japanese film of all time: The Woman in the Dunes (1964) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0058625/ Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WODbLjG4kzw

Re: Japanese Film (Live Action)

Anyone wanna chime in on some hidden gems I'm missing? Japanese cinema hidden gems would be about a 1200 title list, lol! Any chance you can narrow your interests down a bit more? Like genre, period, etc? Anyway, Seijun Suzuki's films are all great, and I think it's the type of stuff you would love...

I recently watched the Ys anime. Definitely pretty good if you're a fan of the games. Kick ass menu screen on the US DVDs as well. ;)

Re: [FC][SMD] How to tell if a game is a reproduction?

You can generally tell in real life, as it's virtually impossible to print the copy of an image without some artefacts/loss of quality. From photos it can be hard to spot the difference though.

In Neo Geo circles at least it's now common practice to show the cart's PCB.

More or less. Apparently, after Sega swallowed the Hammer Away Santos, the company's boss made a new Santos company, and that's the one that made Airgrave.
