Re: Forum Search

Any news on this?

I keep remembering old threads with a wealth of super useful information all the time that I want to dig up, but there's just no way of finding them... :(

Re: [PS3/PSV] Dragon's Crown

What kind of idiot is actually offended enough by the huge tits on the sorcerer in a game with this freakin setting and an artstyle that similarly exaggerates everything else... Americans. Their entire bullshit attitude towards sexuality in videogames is grounded in an unholy alliance between funda...

Re: MSX Laserdisc games

I'm curious because I remember my dad got "Murder, Anyone?" when he bought a Laserdisc player, and he thought an interactive movie was the coolest thing ever, lol. I should've convinced him to get a Neo Geo instead. :D I'll have to ask him if he still has it. That's why I'm wondering if an...

Ah well, too bad. I'm back in Germany now. No worries though, had some beers with GP and was on a pretty tight schedule anyway (even though I was there for three weeks — go figure).

Gamengai Meet in Tokyo?

Hey guys,

I'll be in Tokyo from tomorrow for about three weeks (with some interruptions in Hiroshima and Kyoto).

Who'd be up for hanging out? Maybe check out an arcade and then hit an Izakaya? GP? Shou? NTSC-J? Anybody else in Tokyo?

I found the music in Ghox truly disappointing. Nowhere near Toaplan's usual quality.

Re: Lost Toaplan games?

Enma Daiou is a comedic "lie-detector" game in a dedicated cab, where you answer a bunch of yes or no questions and in the end the machine dispenses a strange business card. The business card sets actually show up on Yahoo pretty often, and the Japanese site you link to says the standard v...

Re: [DS/3DS] Monitor Output

Contra 4 doesn't suck, but it's incredibly mediocre. It's was basically only made to cater to the Contra III nostalgia crowd and leaves out all the improvements in controls, variation and pacing that came after III — by which I mean Hard Corps (the best Contra) and to a lesser extent SS — for no goo...

Re: GP's music picks

I got the album and have been listening the last few days. It's good – picks up right where Loveless left off. But it's not 22-years-in-the-making good, considering it's essentially more of the same.

Had the same issue with my Raiden DX PCB. Did you have the Amiga in Australia? If you can find an Amiga monitor with Scart RGB such as the Philips CM8802, those are great for running Seibu PCBs.

Try pcedaisakusen.net - it has all official releases and the database can be exported to Excel, so you can sort whichever way you want.

Re: CA Production

What I like about Sapphire is that it's actually challenging compared to a lot of other PCE-exclusive shooters. Have you played Kishin Douji Zenki: Battle Raiden? I'm trying to get a hold of a copy now. It seems to have a lot of the Hagane goodness, but maybe without the challenge. Also: The link yo...

Re: CA Production

I just cleared Hagane two weeks ago, and absolutely love it. For me it's right up there with Shinobi, Strider, and the gang. The boss designs, and some of the backgrounds are incredible. I also love it's mysterious and dark atmosphere and how it's full of these sudden shifts in pace and visuals (kin...

As far as HD, I haven't seen it for sale at all, I've been checking shmups and YAJ. All I find is the saturn version. I would just get the Saturn version; the upgrade vastly improves the original game (which was already very good). I've been meaning to properly sit down and play Psycho Dream after ...

www.pcedaisakusen.net is really nice and has a complete list for all regions, but of course it's PCE and TG-16 only.

Too bad something like this doesn't exist for ALL consoles. Therefore it's Excel for me.

devs have always been paid poorly in this country Interesting, I had heard that back in the day developers in Japan were in rather high demand and short supply and there were many headhunters fighting over them and that this is the reason for the many pseudonyms and nicknames in game credits. Re: [X68K] Undumped game releases

Space Soldier II I'm stunned, I seriously can't believe this actually exists. And there is no record of it anywhere until this point. The original SS is garbage tier, but this game rocks. Interestingly this is either a Sion 2 rippoff, or possibly a beta version of the long lost Sion 3? Talk about a...
