Screenshots from Panzer Dragoon PS2 Remake

Here

From the screens it would seem that Sega is being lazy and is just throwing the bare minimum into the port, sadly.

Finally, some screenshots. There was a Japanese Blog I read where a guy briefly touched on it. I remember him saying there were new polygons, but I don't think they're going fro something of Orta quality. I'll buy it either way - a series I really love, and rail shooters usually do nothing for me. Perhaps it's the music.

My first impression exactly... It may be worth a try, at any rate.

So this game is out now has anyone played it yet?

I wish they'd make a remake of Azel on a next gen console.

yeah I have to agree, the PS2's water effects do look like a downgrade from the Saturn original. Sega is really starting to piss me off with the quality of the Sega Ages series this generation. Sometimes they do a really nice job (Gunstar Treasure Box and Dragon Force) but then sometimes they just go for a lazy port as seen here.

This is actually a quality release if you want a perfect port of the original. It is, from what I remember, spot on. It really makes you remember how much they improved with Zwei though --- bad frame rate, and control... and the soundtrack is really bad compared to Zwei and Azel.

Arrange mode is pretty bad though... smooth polygons + bad framerate = ass.

There was a quick Q&A w/ the director or producer of both versions (Saturn back in the day, and the SA2500 release). Was going to translate it, but was working on the Okami article which took longer than I thought. He said he wouldn't mind doing the whole series, but it will of course, depend on sales. To date, Phantasy Star is the only remake that has had two in the series done.

Hmm well in that case looks like I'm skipping this one. My Saturn original still does the job when I'm in the mood for PD1 (which isn't very often), and if the arrange mode sucks, no real reason to buy it then.

Yeah I'll probably pass on it as well.
I played the original to death back when it first came out.
I was hoping for a smooth playing updated experience.
