Pace seems slower than the DC version (I haven't played the N64 game) but the trademark missile spam is completely intact. I love the set-piece levels they show there. They look like they had fun putting those together.

What was the release date on this? I'm getting all kinds of conflicting dates from various sources.

I picked it up yesterday. I never had a chance to play any of the original Bangaio games, so I can't really say how it compares. I'm still sortof trying to figure things out--there's a very long-winded tutorial mode and after a while I get sick of having to look up the unknown kanji just to read it. The action is pretty fast-paced and hectic, though, and it's pretty entertaining so far.

The idea that you can send created levels as sound files also completely blows my mind.

Also, if you haven't heard, Bangai-o is going to be released in the states. Apparently all of it is going to be handled by Treasure (like Bleach DS was), including all the translations. From what I read it appears the US version will be the definitive edition as Treasure will be able to put in all the extras they didn't have time for the first time around.

Sick of them doing this.

Yeah I agree with you, GP..
I'm very tired to see companies that release incompleted games only to release a couple of months later a 'superior' version with all the feature the original should have in the first time..
This is even worse than releasing patches..

I've heard too many times of this pattern:
1-Release incomplete Japanese version
2-Add a couple of features and release an US/PAL version
3-Re-release a Japanese version, if you're lucky at a budget price with crap box, with the missing contents
4-Repeat the same as above on a different console

Roadmap to trippling a companies profits. ;)

So what are the extras rumored to be in the US version? If it significantly enhances the gameplay, I might just try and trade off my copy before I go back home and snag the real thing there assuming it's worth the hassle.

I know I read the interview well before the game was released in Japan, now it's be buried in all the release crap that I can't find it. For now, wikipedia is also saying that they are adding new things. No specifics, of course.

is it true/confirmed that the us version will be the superior one?

the only piece of "solid information" that i could find on the english speaking side of the interweb is that according to gamespy a D3 representative said "the U.S. version will see roughly 150 stages, up from the 80+ in the Japanese game".

it's rather ambiguous but i think the representative is referring to the dreamcast version rather than the japanese DS version as the latter already features around a 160 stages if i'm not mistaken.

but if majik989s is right then that blows hard! ...and i was so happy that my order for the jap version of the game shipped the other day. *sigh* :?
