You probably can't find it because the title above is spelled incorrectly.

Try 讖溽抜隴ヲ蟇溘Γ繧ソ繝ォ繧ク繝」繝

It's awful. And another case of gikun, by the way - You MUST read it as "Armed Police Metal Jack".

It's a pretty mediocre 1-plane mecha brawler. On the plus side, you do get a healthy selection of enemies to fight. Enough to make it interesting? Not IMO. It shows up at intervals on Ebay and goes for about $10. I wouldn't recommend it to anybody but you go right ahead if you can stand mecha sidescrollers (90% of which is probably crap).

BTW, while we're on corrections, 讖溽抜 is "armored," not "armed," and should be written as such according to the gikun reading anyway.

That's wrong, in Japan everybody pronounces it "Kikoukeisatsu Metaru Jakku".

How can they be wrong. Just b/c something has katakana over it w/ some type of foreign word doesn't mean it's supposed to be pronounced that way. Movies with Japanese subtitles have katakana-ized English over some stupidly long word all the time.

But of course it is. Haven't you heard about "furigana"?

And they can be wrong because the furigana just doesn't appear when the game is listed in shop catalogs, etc, spreading the "mistake" more and more with the time. I find it quite obvious.

That's not furigana though. Furigana points out the way the word is supposed to be pronounced... not an alternate word/meaning. Go into a game shop and ask for Armored whatever and they will look at you funny.

You're missing the whole point. Check the stupid box at least before arguing. It is furigana because it IS POINTING OUT THE WAY THE WORD MUST BE PRONOUNCED, not an "alternate word". It's a quite usual gimmick in video-game titles and we've discuss that enough already for Senko no Ronde, Chi no Rondo and the shit. Seriously...

I'm not missing the point

That's the point. My general policy is to trust a million Japanese before one foreigner when it comes to pronunciation.

Ah! Indeed the SFC game box has furigana on it.

Any gameshop would still sort it in the "ka"-gyo though.

Up to you, mate. I gave you a good reason on why they're sticking to that mistake. Anyhow, I'd love to know if "a million" or "everybody" is really the good number here.

Average Tanaka-kun doesn't? How's that important to this discussion, fella? How's it important what you have to ever say, indeed?

i`ll ask again - your evidence of how Japanese gamers pronounce this game , beyond this poster, is what exactly?

it`s always wrong to assume, so i need you - specifically - to write in a post exactly what you are basing this on.

so please, if you could indulge me, let me know.
