PS2 Myths and Facts......

Postby CaptainAmazing » Wed Jun 09, 2004 1:35 pm

ok, Im writing this in hope of finding answers.... 1- When the PS2 is standing upright, does it set the magnets off balance and make the disc scratch? 2- There really is no need for that USB port other than the guncon?? 3- Do Japanese PS2s crap out as easily as US ones? 4- Do Japanese PS2s have trouble reading blue colored discs like 90% of US ones? Thanks.

In response to #2. The USB port is also good for the Eye Toy and USB peripherals such as the Keyboards and Headsets

#1- No but if you slam your game in you can scratch it on the slide itself but that's your fault not the consoles.

Cool, thanks for the info, in regards to question 1....I asked that because my friend was playing his games upright and it would leave circular scratches around the disc, but when he tried a brand new game with the ps2 on its side the game was fine...weird.

Maybe after laying it down and setting the game on it before sending the tray in made them start to ware a little but that would not effect the play ability of the disc.

1- When the PS2 is standing upright, does it set the magnets off balance and make the disc scratch?
I seriously doubt there's any magnetic foolery going on.
2- There really is no need for that USB port other than the guncon??
I think they had a lot of plans for this.... probably planning for the Linux kit early.
3- Do Japanese PS2s crap out as easily as US ones?
Hmm... I don't think so. Mine has done quite well, but the original run of a million defintiely had some issues. Overheating, and the legendary multiregion DVD bug.

It's a well known that fact that most Sony products are shotty and can break down pretty easily.
