Where exactly is the show again? I'm trying to weigh getting up early + train fare with my desire to sleep in and save money; I'm also wondering if traveling the 1.5-2 hours out there would be worth it in the long run to get a peek at the game.

I would go. There's a whole bunch of other cool games there as well (BlazBlue, SF4, KOF13, Mamonoro, Illvelo, etc), not just the new DDP. definitely the most exciting AOU in the last 5 years or so.

I've played Illvelo (bleh) and seen Mamoru-kun (bleher)... the others I'm slightly interested in, but I'm more interested in not taking shit for missing a whole day of taking care of my kid.

Check on the extra flyers... w/ Death Smiles, they only handed out a set per each time you played. Yikes!

Jesus this is the longest line I've ever seen... and that's just to get in to the event. Once again, cluster fuck redefined. Wish I brought my GBA.

Awful theme song.
Mech school girl bosses.
Hit counter depletes...doesn't reset.

Christ, that first gal holding the Arcana Heart 2 flyers is a beast and a half. Is there a girl in Japan below the age of 30 or so that doesn't stand pigeon-toed and knock-kneed?

You inspired a question in me, though: where does one normally get arcade flyers? Obviously they were all over the place at this event; is this the only time when flyers are given out? Are flyers meant to draw much consumer attention to upcoming games, or are they mostly to convince arcade ops to purchase the boards?

Pretty much shows. Vendors & arcade operators also get some to scan and post, but those are generally not for consumers -- they take a bit more work to get.

EDIT: I'm more interested in where the fuck the poses originated from in the first place. I mean, they're all the same. You should definitely go to the TGS in September. It's somewhat of a freak show.

Ok..
so DDP gets a random moe treatment.

Thanks Cave for destroying a franchise.

Hopefully the game will keep the same spirit (Found that change ala DDP 2 quite curious btw), but I wasn't expecting for such a veteran franchise to receive one hell of a revamp on the characters department like this.
However after reading your review GP, I feel more relieved. It seems as it still feels DDP while bringing somehitng new to the table. I guess that just like Mushifutari and Galuda2 I'll only be able to play it if I get back to Japan, but I'd love to give it a go :)

10:52 of filmed good-res footage:

Looks quite good. I must say that DDP DOJ impressed me more when I saw it first though, but I'm still very keen on DAI-FUK.

Haven't seen anyone mention the character designer by name yet: Kouji Ogata.

Here's some links:

Finally watched the 10 minute video. Looks awesome. I love the stage designs. Bosses more retarded than I remember.

Still cant figure out what on earth makes the combo counter disappear instantly or just tick away while not hitting stuff.

I think it has to do w/ the hyper meter being full or not.

BTW, I love the character designs. They have a real Yoshiyuki Sadamoto feel (Nadia, Evangelion). Makes me all nostalgic. ^^

Somebody has seen this blind point in the TLB?
I'm not a specialist in CAVE games ( iツエm trying to fix this), so, it could be a failure of the game or is just a normal safe point?

Normal safe spot. I mean, they design when the bullet streams start and stop, and there's quite a few bosses that have the same safe spot. I don't buy that this is an oversight.

Ok, so, there's something that i don't understand.
The ship is all the time with the laser shoot, right? So, Why the lasers sent by the TLB kills the ship? (at the end of the video)

The hit box is the glowing dot. There's a small space between the TLB and everything he's firing out. As long as the ship is firing it's laser, it will counter the TLB's laser. As long as it stays in the safe spot, the bullets can't hurt it either. Seseri in Galuda 2 has a similar safe spot:
