Nintendo 3DS

Postby alastair » Tue Mar 23, 2010 11:49 am

Nintendo Co., Ltd.(Minami-ward of Kyoto-city, President Satoru Iwata) will launch ツ“Nintendo 3DSツ” (temp) during the fiscal year ending March 2011, on which games can be enjoyed with 3D effects without the need for any special glasses.

ツ“Nintendo 3DSツ” (temp) is going to be the new portable game machine to succeed ツ“Nintendo DS seriesツ”, whose cumulative consolidated sales from Nintendo amounted to 125million units as of the end of December 2009, and will include backward compatibility so that the software for Nintendo DS series, including the ones for Nintendo DSi, can also be enjoyed.

We are planning to announce additional details at E3 show, which is scheduled to be held from June 15, 2010 at Los Angeles in the U.S.

What's that? I think I hear a voice from far away, as if speaking across a great rift in time.

It's saying, "Viiirrrrtualllll Boooyyyyy..."

I think it's going to be more this style of 3d :

possibly a thinner gap between the two screens to help with the disconnect or maybe even 1 full touch screen (please!)
Beautiful Burnout

Nintendo is boring now in my opinion. Super Nintendo was the last great Nintendo system.

I'm rather annoyed by when this was announced and is planned to be released. Just when North America finally gets the DSi XL/LL, Nintendo goes and announces a new handheld. Couldn't it have waited a bit longer?

No, I think the GameCube/GBA-combo was superb although GC didn't sell too well. But once we got its successor, Wii owsners slowly began appreciating the GameCube's quality, hence the high prices of GC titles to this day :)

The N64 / Virtual Boy / GameBoy Color stuff was a bit odd in my opinion, I'd agree on that. Especially after the great Famicom/SuFami era the N64 was disappointing.
