I don't know much about this game yet but it looks amazing. Looks to have all the things I like in gaming: side-scrolling structure, danmaku bullets, shooting mixed with melee action, combo porn, wall jumps, and a grapple beam. Fortunately it appears not to be an online game and has real stages.

I'll update this thread as I learn more.

Aaaaand it kinda sucks. :D

Not really but it's got nothing on the classics outside a Youtube montage. This false alarm has been brought to you by JoshF. Back to playing Cyvern for Shumps.

Actually maybe someone could salvage this thread by mentioning any PC-exclusive side-scrollers worth playing. Too many of the doujin ones using combo meters to trick you into thinking they're better/more substantive than they really are.

First thing that came to mind while watching the video was Y's Origin. Properly executed and on point like a pencil, as is most of Falcom's self-published stuff. Play as Hugo for teh running shmup experience.

That's one I'll have to try.

Also, why do video game crabs always spit bubbles? Is that a thing crabs do?

You've never seen a crab foaming at the mouth?

If he had, he would not have lived to post here.

Yeah I played the demo of this years ago. Kinda shitty, think I deleted it after 2 mins.

As for good sidescrolling PC exclusives... do you want to know just windows stuff? My list could be quite lengthy if you include DOS and other computers like the NEC stuff and the Amiga etc :)

Ok here's some of my favorites off the top of my head:

PC88:
Relics
Ashe
Veigues
Firehawk
Werdragon

PC98:
Edge
Briganty
Night Slave
Tamashii No Mon
Rusty

DOS:
Interrupt
Astrocounter of Crescents
Zyclunt
Antman 2

Amiga:
Shadow of the Beast
Shadow of the Beast 2
Shadow of the Beast 3
Myth: History in the Making
Lionheart
Weird Dreams
Leander
Blade Warrior

Windows:
Bermuda Syndrome
Duel Savior

All of these are platform side scrolling, no stg's and stuff. Famous stuff ported to a million systems Like Ys 3, Sorcerian and Another World I couldn't be bothered listing.

There's probably more windows stuff but I cant think at the moment. Also probably forgetting some Western DOS stuff.

A couple of those DOS games look like Genocide. Antman looks good.

Huh, I actually found the demo to this fairly enjoyable. It was one I swore to keep an eye out for when I was in Japan, and once I found it at a local media shop, I convinced myself to hold out for a hypothetical cheaper copy on an Akihabara trip. Never got around to finding one, and came home empty-handed. :/ I thought the mechanics were a little odd at first, but once I got used to the whole flying/extended air dash thing, it was fairly fun.
You also distaste me with passion!

This game is a little too doujin looking for my tastes. It does look sort of interesting though.
