Using G.I.M.I.C

Postby Stefan_L » Tue Jul 10, 2012 8:06 pm

Has anybody here used G.I.M.I.C?
http://gimic.jp/index.php

Looks like a very good device to play game music using the original hardware, i am not looking for an emu vs original hardware discussion though, i just happen to like this kind of devices :)

Hoot has support for it: http://dmpsoft.s17.xrea.com/hoot/index.html

And with the OPL3 module so can it play PC game music with real FM... or at least i think so?

I had this piece of hardware demonstrated to me by this guy last month:

Very cool. Gorgeous Puyo Puyo 2 / GG Aleste II arrangements from 09:55. No idea about OPL3 compatibility and such though...

Thanks to Gaijin Punch so do i now have the G.I.M.I.C (MB2) and also OPM, OPNA and OPL3 sound boards :D

It took a while to figure out how to update the firmware as the instructions is in japanese, but i finally got it to work.

I have tested Gimic with a Dosbox build that support that play the OPL2/3 music thru Gimic instead of being emulated, and also Hoot support Gimic with all available sound boards.

Here is a pic of Gimic in action (with OPNA installed)

Thanks again for the help Gaijin Punch :)
