A while back an acquaintance of mine ran MAME+ at my request to retrieve some information for the dip switch settings.
I compared it to *both* of the Korean boards I have. What MAME+ lists as SW1 functions actually apply to SW2, and vice versa.
So it appears that the settings are:
2: Player Select: Off = Coin Slot, On = Select Sw *On
3: Service Mode: *Off, On - All it has is a I/O and CRT Test
4: Hardware Test Mode: *Off, On - RAM/ROM/Sound Tests
1&2: Lives - Default is Off-Off = 2
3: Ticket Dispenser: *Off = 100000, On = 1500000
4: Continue: *Off=Off, On=On
5: Extend: *Off = 100000, On = No Extend
6 & 7: Difficulty: *Off-Off= Normal, On-Off = Easy, Off-On = Hard, On-On = Very Hard
8: Demo Sound: Off = Off, *On = On
It is all coin settings. Default is all off, 1 coin, 1 credit. There is no free play option.
Here is a picture of the dips for the non-working board I have. They're identical to the working one.
I recently recorded a 1 credit clear of the game at what I am positive is normal difficulty with default lives and extend rate.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=72p1iDvRysQ
I'm curious as to how accurate the MAME+ information is for dips SW3: 1, 2. SW2: 3,4. They don't appear to have any function. Was "Ticket Dispenser" a Tatsumi thing in Japan?
I'm assuming the Japan ROMs are undumped and I understand the board is quite the rarity there. Any information regarding the games reputation/ presence (lack there of) in Japan would be greatly appreciated. Even anecdotal stories would be great if there are any to share.
