Saturn RGB Scart help

Postby m0nk3yb0y » Thu Aug 12, 2004 7:42 pm

Hello all.. Some help please, if i may. Due to an unfortunate incident involving my NTSC-J Saturn's RGBScart lead and my Rabbit's teeth, i no longer have RGB output from my Saturn. I'm using my old PAL Saturn's RGB scart lead, but the TV doesn't switch to RGB mode. It stays in normal AV mode. Apparently there is a difference between PAL and NTSCJ RGB leads. Does anyone know what this difference is? I really don't want to have to spend 15 on a new lead if i can mod this one. Surely I must just have to connect an extra pin or something? Anyone know what pins are connected please? Help! ;)

Man... that's going to be a tough orders, since (I think) most people here are NTSC guys. I hate to say it, but I think the Saturn RGB cable is probably a cheap solution. I can't imagine them running 15 quid (but who knows what's going on in the UK). I would recommend heading to Assembler. There's a LOT of PAL Sega fans over there.

Japanese RGB and Euro RGB are, indeed, different. I bought an official SS Japanese RGB lead for my Japanese machine and it didn't worked on my TV. The pic was red. I've been using non-official, China-made RGB SS leads since day one in both, Japanese systems and (modified) PAL systems, which worked also at 50 Hz. So I don't think a "PAL" RGB lead cannot be used properly with a Japanese system if your TV is PAL. Maybe that supposedly RGB lead is just a single A/V cable with a scart conection?
