Never released, I wouldn't say protos are common...I just have access to a lot of Jaleco stuff now.

Update:

Chimera Beast Japanese proto has been dumped.

Distopia is still being unearthed.

Super Strong Warriors ROMs have been found but need to figure out what goes where.

Vertexer is being dumped. It appears to need the I/O board to boot.

News:

Tecmo had a Solomon's Key 2 prototype (nothing like the Famicom game) on Model 2, looking for the data for this. The story is that back when Tecmo became a Model 2 licensee, they bought a huge amount of Model 2 stock thinking that DOA1 would sell. When it didn't, they started development of a number of protos, Solomon 2 being the furthest along.

Any idea of what the other Tecmo protos were?

So cool.

Also not sure if you'll be able to answer this yet considering the neo-geo nutjobs around, but did anything ever come of the Ninja Gaiden 2 lead with the data the guy had backed up?

great!

does Vertexer have analogue conrols, then?

hg101 has a recent feature with pictures from japanese gaming expos from the early nineties. Super Strong Warriors was featured in the Jaleco box:

Vertexer uses optical sensors like many other Taito titles.

News:

R-Gear, the 2D sequel to RayForce....has been unearthed. It runs on F3 and is the last code base before being canned for RayStorm. The proto is in the hands of an ex-Taito programmer. Working with him to get the data dumped.

Raiden III DX was in development before IV was started and there is a proto which we are working on getting.

S.T.G. apparently has a new version which makes the game much more interesting.

DAIOH has a special version which makes the game different from either the World or Japanese versions.

What he said. Rayforce is one of my favourite shooters but I was never keen on Storm/Crisis. I don't really do emulation but this could persuade me to bend my "no converted boards" rule. :whack:

PS. Paul, fix the alerts! Happy to pay cashmoney for such a service if that's an issue. ;)
