Holy shit! Who'd have known? Did it come from Irem? All you need now is to write a 3-page article based on someone else's information and you'll surpass JAPJAC in terms of internet cred.

It's probably been years since I delved into anything emulation so I have a question: Seeing as how a home console port is a near impossibility, what's the emulation status of any of the Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune games?

1-2 run on Chihiro so depends upon XBOX emulation.

I wouldn't expect any of the later ones anytime soon. 3 series runs on N2, 4 is ES1 which are PC based platforms.

Back from a long hiatus, uncovered some protos used at a certain magazine for reviews. I'm not certain what is different for some of these...

Interesting -- and as always, thanks for sharing. Ready to see the MAME community's mind's get blown a little more.

Amazing as usual Shou.

By the way, ever get any word on whether its known if any Japanese collectors have possession of Last Odyssey proto's? Its interesting now that Dion and ChrisR said they sold their last cart of it in 2012 to someone who was planning on making an imminent release, but that never happened (When Tonk faked having the rom back then NGF immediately said it was probably from the person they sold it too)

Surely it wouldn't be legally possible to publicly sell and produce those carts in any kind of open way unless they get the rights from Monolith or whoever which will never happen, so now the people who have it would honestly be hard pressed to release roms when they could easily just sell it to another neogeo collector for a huge sum of money.

Of course even most collectors in possession of it likely just have boot carts with the rom just shoved onto it which is likely how NGF ever sold it, not actually any official original proto cart, so these carts are totally worthless except for getting the rom off it, and once the rom is already out in the open...

Didn't the unreleased MVS version of Brikinger get casually released onto the Wii store or something at some point? Surprised whoever has the rights to Last Odyssey wouldn't just release it like that for some easy money.

I was talking with a former Capcom developer from the CPS-2 era last week. He said they were working on a CPS-II Accelerator that plugged into the A board goes to extend the hardware capabilities of the unit and had several games in development but it was suddenly 1 day nixxed in favor of CPS-III. He believes he has archived some of the work so we will see...

That sounds completely awesome. Very interested in seeing how that turns out.

I'm so behind on these new releases. I still need to try that Korean E-SWAT clone where you play as tin men. Has Thunder Hoop 2 been cracked yet?
