Why you don't send your kid to home school (NSFW-ish ads, but the clip is from CNN)... jesus this is painful to watch.

Record Industry in Denial: Not really a LOLing thing, but music industries replies to the situation are golden, and also very predictable.

I was furious when I saw that news report on Slashdot earlier today. First Paris Hilton gets sent home because her jail cell wasn't as plush as she expected last month and now this. I always cynically thought justice worked a bit differently for the rich and famous, but it's absolutely infuriating to see it in action, especially followed by such an impotent public outcry. You go, Democrat party: tell Bush how disappointed you are! That'll learn 'im!

I've always pictured Bush as dumb enough to actually think, "Huh? I'm the president... I can do whatever I want. Nobody will question me or care. For a lot of things, he's right. Pulled the wool over half the country a few years ago. Out of everyone on the planet, I'm the only one that I know that was smart enough to say, "Texans do not belong in the whitehouse" BEFORE he was elected. Once again, I was right. ;)

The guy has a point. If this was in the city, I wouldn't give a shit. But now, as a father, if people were doing that in my fucking neighborhood, I would probably do more than shoot a video. I'm all for freedom of choice when it comes to illegal drugs or paying for sex acts, but doing it right outside someone's house? Wake the fuck up, people. That was my big problem w/ the Iranian drug dealers in Shibuya. Instead of doing it in some back alley in Roppongi or Kabukicho, they did it right on Center-gai, in the open.... basically the most condensed population of high school students in the country.

That's why they should consider what we have here in Germany: a legal and regulated sex market.

Not that that's gonna happen though. ^_-

Since we don't have a "shit that makes me cry" thread, I'll have to post this one here. I totally forgot about this. Remind me to never go to a fucked up third world country and help people.

It is an amazing world we live in, where just about every country has a tendancy to blame foreigners for their problems.

Word on that; the families are a bunch of ungrateful dumb fucks and the government is an opportunistic leech. How much shame could a judge take by making that decision (whether independently or forced)?

Our government is no different, but just does the same thing in less obvious ways. WMDs in Iraq, anyone? Even after it was apparent they weren't there, "defending your freedom" was a phrase one could not go a day without hearing. Sorry... my freedom was in less jeopardy than when we invaded.

Japan's guilty of this, too, but in more archaic ways. The Mayor of Tokyo (Ishihara) is a blatant racist, backs the right-wingers, and has tons of fans. He is one of the Japanese that still believe (unfortunately, most of them are) that Koreans were actually looting after the Great Kanto Earthquake. He has even brought it up recently, even though such rumors were debunked ages ago, and it was made known that many Koreans were lynched b/c of said rumors.

Yeah, all the non-ignorant folks knew there were no WMDs. I thought it was at least alright for the US to display some muscle while correcting some injustice (even under false pretenses). Never thought they'd refuse to relent and just keep giving big oil record profits while killing off our troops.

But really, it's the mass public who are at fault for being so dumb as to believe big govt.

I see white people <-- the thread was broken off from a now 5-pager about foreigners not paying the compulsory NHK fee (they come collect it at your door). I apparently pissed off some people.

Actually you could argue that Americans pushing their ridiculous (and mostly hypocritical) PC standards on foreign cultures is racist as well.

That Obeika guy obviously hasn't spent enough time in Japan yet, if he still think you can live there as a gaijin without being a weirdo-by-default.

I always refused to pay NHK fees as well. I would tell them "no terebi, no terebi!"

When they pointed out the blaring TV in the back room of my apartment, I just replied with "no nihongo, no nihongo!"

I kinda felt sorry for them though. :D

The other people that would regularly ring my doorbell were Mormons, btw. That really sucked, because the "dumb gaijin" trick obviously isn't gonna fly with them. O_O

I only had the NHK guy come around at my old place a couple of times. In all honesty, I never, ever watch it, so of course, never paid. I had an autolock, so they never got to the front door. In a way, I kind of like punishing their archaic system of collecting fees. Similar to how I try to never buy from online shops that have such shitty CGI. Seriously, what the fuck, Japan? This site is 100x more advanced than most online Japanese sites. Amazon.co.jp (which isn't really Japanese) is the only one I can think of that's not.

And yeah, that guy is clearly not passed the broken-in phase.

And the mormons have never bothered with me. It's probably much harder to convert a religious (although not very traditional) person than a nontheist... a word I just made up that I think describes non-religious Japanese quite well.
