Gonna have to break these out again. I played X for some time about a year ago, but never got past stage 3. I don't see how people clear these painfully long games.

Do any of the difficulties (Easy, Normal, Hard) on the Wii edition of the Anthology correspond to the MVS difficulty, or did you just have the MVS versions in mind?

Metal Slug 1
Gaijin Punch - 166,770 - Stage 3

I'll try to improve this. This and X are the only two I've really tried at, and I think Stage 4 was as far as I got. This series seriously needs extends.

I was thinking just versions that offered MVS difficulty, so some console ports wouldn't apply, but if you have scores I'll put them up. I doubt the differences are that severe.

Metal Slug X
Greatsaintlouis - 1,190,760 - Mission 3

Used difficulty setting 4 in the BIOS--hope this was the right one.

EDIT:
Metal Slug - 236,170 - Mission 3

Is the first considered the easiest? I think I can string togother a Mission 5 350,000 or so play if I quit fucking up so much.

Yea the first is definitely the easiest of the series. 3 is generally regarded as the toughest because of stage 5, but I think MS4 is hardest.

My score for the first with one life lost:

1,059,350 - Kaneda - ALL

Losing a life doesn't matter. If I was confident enough I'd use two of my lives for milking, but I end up needing them later when I do something stupid.

My top MS1 score so far is 1,330,351 on Normal mode (Saturn version) using one continue. I'm guessing Arcade mode is what I should be going for.

Yeah... arcade mode, w/ no continues.

Kaneda, how many stages are there? I might try to make this my one ALL of the series. I gave X an honest go, but the latter stages just ass rape me.

6 stages. The last level has some rough spots, but the last boss is more manageable than X or 3's.

AVE - 698.250 - Stage 6

Metal Slug (MAME)
502,310 - 5

Of course my wife had to come in and clean up at the start of stage 5, where my game quickly finished.

Code: Select all

959,250 - JoshF - 6

It's amazing how much skill I've lost thanks to not being able to play for a month. The difficulty was changed from Normal to Arcade but honestly I can't tell the difference.

EDIT: Updated.

Think we could have Combat School records, or should that be a separate topic to keep things from looking messy?
