Quick translation pls gaijin people

Postby SuperPang » Wed Jul 22, 2009 2:41 pm

ImageI know the red buttons will be Test/Service/Degauss in some sort of order but this is the first time I've seen two (of what I assume to be) volume knobs. Are they individual L/R speaker controls or one for stereo, one mono or something? O_o

Thanks in advance

From top to bottom:

Volume Right
Volume Left
Service SW
Test SW
Degauss SW (pretty sure)

I was going to give someone 10 points for the pronunciation of degauss, but it seems it's 'shouji'

Word
-GP

EDIT: WTF is that thing?

Off to bed.

Cheers

Individual speaker volumes, how queer. I figured as much but just wanted to be sure it wasn't +5V or something.

New STG cab ;)

Here's something that recently came out of my ass:

It's not terrible. 15-30 minute a day is good IF you do it every day. JC is not a bad idea.

Gramatically, this is wrong:

What's this?

I was trying to say I didn't abuse the second boss bug. That stupid word I found also meant "to speak ill of" so maybe it didn't mean "abuse" in the way I wanted.

[quote] If you're just trying to make it negative, the word would be 窶挈窶堙ァ窶堙遺

Junior College.

Ah. The word abuse doesn't quite translate so well. I would just use "didn't use". 窶藩懌

Grammar? You mean like KELSEY GRAMMAR?

I'll get one. Is there a preferred book? I actually think getting some pure info books would be better than my current system, which is juggling between a pdf file, an audio cd, and a teachers guide.

No... just normal grammar.

Just the one I stated above.

Does it look stupid to switch between formal and informal words between sentences.[/quote

Yes, this is a huge no-no. In fact, unless you're quoting someone you're not supposed to switch back and forth in the writing (essay, book, etc.). However, grammatically you're okay above, although I'd just use ナスg窶堋、.

In that case in should be "ryou surunai" right?

I would just say

Thanks again GP. I was at a bookstore yesterday and looked out for that grammar book. The only stuff they had were yuppie phrasebooks unfortunately ("where's the nearest golf course?" :) )

I started reading this book upon your recommendation and just finished reading the whole thing a few days ago. It's pretty good with plenty of example sentences to really burn it into your memory (I already read Tae Kim's* Japanese Grammar Guide beforehand and it [DoBJG] was still useful to me). I don't think I'll ever be able to memorise (nor attempt to memorise) each and every differentiating minor nuance though :(. Oh well, as long as I can translate sentences reasonably enough, I'm happy.

Now onto Intermediate.

*For some reason, I keep calling this guy Hyung Tae Kim, a popular Korean PC/video game artist.

So I got this book and it is indeed the shit. Just flipped to a random page and my vocab automatically doubled (putting "sa" at the end of an adjective to make a noun). I've been having fun looking up and translating the lyrics to theme songs and singing karaoke when no one is around. :P

Did something awesome again. Gaijin could you please do the honors of translating this?
This is my most thrilling play yet. I took a lot of risks, but it makes it more exciting to watch, even if it also makes it look like I'm just getting lucky lol.

Smart.fm lessons are great but I've kinda forgot about it since my new job started. At this rate I might be able to read a cool childrens book by 40.
